Paris Trout by Pete Dexter

This is a great story set in Cotton Point, GA after WWII. Paris Trout is a complicated and evil man. It follows his actions through a time period in the racist south and examines his relationship with his wife and law enforcement. Great book, I've read one other book by Pete Dexter and they are all interesting.
